Tour Description
See one of the world most spectacular coastlines in the convenience and intimacy of this genuine small group tour, with a maximum of only 11 people we guarantee you won't feel like just one of the flock. Our central Melbourne pick up point makes gives you more time in the morning, after all who wants to be sitting in peak hour traffic for over an hour picking up everyone else from their hotel. Our later departure means we also drop behind all those pesky big busses avoiding all the crowds.
Our experienced local guides will tell tales of this powerful coastline with a mix of facts and dramatic stories. Morning tea by the beach of freshly brewed coffee, tea, cake and biscuits is included.
We stop at all the major sights on the Great Ocean Road plus a few secret stops that the big busses cant get into. Always on the lookout for wildlife, with a real chance of seeing Koalas, Kangaroos and Wallabies. Dolphins and fur seals are also regularly sighted, not to mention whales during the winter months!
Lunch will see you in the beautiful town of Apollo Bay. Here you can choose from many fantastic cafe's, restaurants, fish and chip shops and the famous Apollo Bay Bakery with its award winning scallop pies or perhaps bring a picnic lunch to have by the sea, the choice is yours. Lunch is at own expense.
A guided Otway rainforest walk is always a highlight as you walk amongst some of the tallest trees in the world in this ancient Gondwanan landscape.
You reach the spectacular 12 Apostles in the mid afternoon. A highlight for many visitors, these 70 meter rock formations and sea cliffs will mesmerise as the powerful Southern Ocean pounds the coastline. Loch Ard gorge with its tragic shipwreck story and a walk on the beach at Gibson Steps. In the winter months expect to see some spectacular sunsets here.
You then depart the coast and start the journey back to Melbourne. On the way you will stop a traditional Aussie country pub for a hearty dinner to see the day out (Included)
Arriving in Melbourne we will happily drop you off at your accommodation in either Melbourne city, The Docklands or Southbank.
